Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. Fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes.
Melanie offers Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, with a special interest in women’s health. The overall aim of acupuncture treatment is to restore the body’s equilibrium, and a growing body of evidence-based clinical research is discovering how the body responds to acupuncture and its benefits for a wide range of common health conditions.
TCM acupuncture can be used to balance the body and we have found it to be particularly useful in hormone related problems such as menopause, heavy and painful periods, anxiety, infertility, insomnia, headaches and migraines, arthritis, irritable bladder, allergies, sinus problems, hay fever and to promote relaxation and reduce the effects of stress.
Melanie completed her degree in acupuncture at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York and is a member of the British Acupuncture Council.
Melanie works closely with Dr Sally, combining their expertise to review cases regularly and ensure patients receive input from all members of the Orchard Barn team as required. Dr Sally is on hand to answer any questions about supplements or herbs, or OTC remedies which may support your acupuncture treatment. For more in-depth herbal or homoeopathic support you will need to book a separate appointment.
